Meet Your Captain

Captain Tim Shaffer has been fishing the big waters and tributaries of the Great Lakes for over 30 years. As a five-year President of the Southwest Michigan Steelheaders Stream Committee, Chairman on the Michigan Steelheaders Board of Directors, and former employee of the Michigan DNR, Captain Shaffer has a unique understanding of the fishery. Captain Shaffer’s techniques and fishing savvy have been featured in a wide variety of publications including Great Lakes Angular, In-Fisherman, Michigan-out-of-Doors, Raghorn News, and Woods and Waters.  In addition, he has ben featured in a number of newspapers such as: The Grand Rapids Press, Oakland Press, South Bend Tribune, Elkhart Truth, Herald Palladium, Kalamazoo Gazette, Saginaw News, Jackson Patriot, South Carolina News Observer, Indiana Outdoor News, and Columbus Dispatch.

In his spare time, Captain Tim enjoys water fowling, small game hunting, ice fishing, tying flies, and building custom fishing rods. Captain Tim is married and resides with his wife, Holly, and her 40 animals.
